ShotCheck — Last updated: July 27, 2026

Overview

ShotCheck measures the exposure, lost detail, sharpness, colour cast and lighting of a photo you choose. Every measurement runs on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, and there is no account to create.

Your Photos

When you pick a photo, ShotCheck reads it to take the measurements and holds it in memory while the result is on screen. It is not copied into the app's own storage, not written back to your library, not altered, and not sent anywhere. It is released when you start over or close the app. We never see it.

Photo Library and Camera Access

iOS asks your permission before ShotCheck can open your photo library or use the camera. The library is used for one thing: letting you pick the photo you want measured. The camera is used for one thing: letting you take a shot straight into the app instead of switching to Camera first. ShotCheck does not browse, index or upload your library, and does not save the photos you take.

Analytics & Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Analytics for anonymized usage data (such as which screens are opened) and Sentry / Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports, so we can fix problems. Neither receives your photos or the measurements taken from them, and neither identifies you.

Advertising

The app shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers to deliver and measure ads, in accordance with Google's privacy policy. On iOS we ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency before any tracking. A one-time in-app purchase removes ads.

Children's Privacy

ShotCheck is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; changes are posted on this page.
